Enhancing measured building surveys through improved accuracy, efficiency and reduced site disruption.

Dabinett has recently invested in the Leica BLK360 laser scanner as part of our continued commitment to adopting technology that improves the quality and efficiency of our surveying services. Measured building surveys have traditionally been undertaken using manual measuring equipment and standard disto surveys. Whilst these methods remain appropriate in some circumstances, advances in laser scanning technology now allow a significantly greater level of detail to be captured in a much shorter timeframe.

The Leica BLK360 uses advanced 3D laser scanning technology to record millions of measurements within minutes, creating a highly accurate digital representation of a building or space. This allows detailed survey information to be captured quickly and accurately, supporting the preparation of precise existing building drawings for a wide range of projects.

Benefits of Laser Scanning Technology

One of the principal advantages of laser scanning over traditional measured survey methods is the sheer volume of information captured during a single site visit.

Rather than relying on individual manual measurements, the scanner captures comprehensive spatial data across the surveyed area. This reduces the risk of missed details and can significantly reduce the need for return visits where additional information is later required. For clients, this offers a number of practical benefits:

Recent Project – School Building

The Leica BLK360 has already been deployed on a recent measured building survey project for a school in Manchester.

The instruction involved the measured survey of seven buildings across the school campus. Given the scale of the site, traditional measured survey methods would have been considerably more time intensive and potentially more disruptive to the operation of the school.

Using the Leica BLK360, our surveyors were able to complete the site measurements within a matter of days, capturing a substantial amount of accurate survey data efficiently and reducing the time required on site.

The measured survey information will now support future planning, design and development works across the site.
