The client needed to extend an existing, operational factory to meet demand and accommodate the growth of the business.
An extension of the existing building had to be designed, providing approximately 1,500sqm of additional space incorporated into the existing building. The works would also necessitate internal alterations to the existing factory.
Sign off from the landlord together with Planning and Building Regulations approvals were required to permit progression on to the contract stage and construction.
The client provided excellent detail on the requirements for the extension, with initial layouts developed from an operational perspective. Dabinett led a multi-disciplinary team, with structural engineering practice and M&E engineers. Designs were quickly developed providing accommodation to fully suit the client’s requirements.
Additionally, an external store was designed and the yard areas altered to ensure that goods vehicles could safely and efficiently use the space.
Within 6 weeks designs were completed for submission to both planning and building control and mid-2017 sign off was given. Works on site started in Autumn 2017 with Dabinett retained as the lead consultant working with a construction management contractor.
