Geraint Rees-Hughes

Geraint is an Assistant Building Surveyor at Dabinett, currently undertaking his university placement year while studying Building Surveying at Liverpool John Moores University. He joined the team in 2025 and is developing practical experience across a broad range of commercial, residential, and public sector projects.

Heralding from Chester (but being Wrexham supporter, he is no stranger to being in dangerous territory), Geraint brings a grounded and committed approach to his work. With previous experience in property development, finance and planning, he has a growing interest in refurbishment, defect diagnosis, and leasehold matters — and is particularly focused on progressing quickly toward chartership.

Recent project involvement includes:

  • Preparing tender documentation and contributing to design detailing on refurbishment schemes
  • Assisting with building surveys, photographic schedules, and condition reports
  • Supporting dilapidation inspections and researching repair obligations under UK case law
  • Contributing to planned maintenance programmes and insurance reinstatement assessments
  • Gaining practical exposure to CDM regulations, mansafe system layouts, and roof detailing

Outside of work, Geraint is a competitive rower and enjoys the discipline and teamwork that comes with the sport. Having lived overseas during his upbringing, he is culturally aware and confident working with people from a variety of backgrounds — bringing an open-minded and adaptable attitude to every project he works on.
