Case Study:
Cookridge Hospital

Project Overview

Client: Chartford Homes

Size: 42,000 sqft

Location: Leeds

Services: Building Survey Report and Measured Survey

Sector: Commercial

Value: N/A

Project Requirement

The property is a Grade II Listed former hospital. The long term future of the building involves conversion to residential units and an understanding of the repairs necessary to achieve this was needed. Recommendations as to priority of works were crucial to ensuring the condition of the Listed building did not deteriorate. A building survey of the property was required to ascertain the structural condition of the building, together with the diagnosis of timber decay and the full preparation of a window schedule to document the windows and works necessary.

In addition, a detailed measured survey was required to provide accurate drawings.

Project Outcome

A detailed report of the building was prepared to cover any areas of structural concern. A full window schedule was completed which included photos of each window with a commentary on the condition and the necessary works. Dry rot was found throughout the building and plans were drafted detailing the extents.

Full building plans and elevations were completed for the building.

The inspection was carried out over a two day period to provide a fast turnaround of report and drawings.

Since the instruction, Dabinett has been involved with further instructions with respect to the development of the site.
